20-22 May 2015 - UEPC meetings in Malta
On 20-22 May UEPC held its Working Groups, Joint Committee, Board of Directors and General Assembly Meetings in Malta. This event was co-organized by UEPC's Maltese Member, MDA.
The working groups on accesibility, VAT rates and energy efficiency took place on Wednesday 20 May in the afternoon. The EU legislative state of play was discussed and further UEPC actions was debated.
On 20 May in the evening, UEPC Members attended a reception organized by the Maltese Developers Association
Members where Malta's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat gave a speech
Mr Galindo Cueva, President of the UEPC, thanked Dr Muscat for being present. This, he pointed out, “shows the interest for the real estate industry and the importance of developers to the country’s economy”. He said he had been around the islands in the past few days and was impressed with the real estate development taking place on the island.
On 21 May, the Joint Committee started with the presentation of the International Monetary Fund Global Housing Watch by Mr Ahir Hites.
The rest of the day was dedicated to discussion on a variety of issues of interest for UEPC Members, including housing finance, economics and fair competition, housing taxation, energy and environment, as well as standardisation.
On 22 May, the Board of Directors and General Assembly took place, during which Mr Terry Roydon was elected new UEPC President
following the end of the mandate of Mr Galindo.
Meetings were concluded by a meeting at Auberge de Castille with Hon Dr Michael Falzon Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Simplification of Administrative Processes
