EHF meeting

During today's European Housing Forum meeting, representatives from about 15 housing associations gathered at UIPI's office to listen to Mr. Luca Bertalot, Secretary-General of the European Mortgage Federation and European Covered Bond Council. Mr. Bertalot gave a presentation on the potential impact of the Green Mortgage Initiative on the housing market. The Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative was launched by the EMF-ECBC and its partners in September 2016, in order to explore ways to mobilise private mortgage financing to boost energy efficient building renovation in Europe. The aim of the project is to create a suitable framework for a standardised Energy Efficient Mortgage product, which mortgage lenders in Europe can offer to borrowers seeking to purchase and retrofit an energy efficient property.

Ms. Alice Pittini, Research Coordinator at Housing Europe, presented the association's 'State of Housing 2017". The key message of her presentation was that housing in general is seeing a return of growth, but that some parts of the population have difficulties to enter the housing market. You can read the full report here.

Following the presentation, participants had an exchange of views on the current policy initiatives (EPBD, EED, Urban Agenda, ...).

The next EHF meeting will take place in the course of March.
