High Level Forum on sustainable competitiveness of the construction sector
On 29 January, the European Commission hosted the High Level Forum on sustainable competitiveness of the construction sector. UEPC was represented at the meeting by Filiep Loosveldt and President Jean-Paul Florentin, and also contributed to the work of the European Construction Forum in drawing up a Manifesto for Action for presentation at the meeting.
The Commission explained that it expected the High Level Forum to:
ensure leadership for the commitment of adequate resources for agreed actions
provide an informed opinion about the scope of the thematic groups and the expected outcomes
take into account the work of the thematic groups in formulating the HLF's recommendations
inform the Forum about on-going national policy developments
provide feedback on the impact of the action plan.
The Commission proposed to organize thematic groups and discuss priorities. Their general scope will be to map sector needs and blockages to the implementation of the action plan, and to make recommendations on how to proceed with concrete proposals and solutions related to legal acts and other policy instruments.
Those thematic groups will first meet in March-April and then in September-October. The next Forum will take place in November 2013.
